Staples like eggs, bacon, and sausage are the kings of the breakfast world, but have you ever considered inviting beef to the table? Our favorite protein doesn’t have to wait until lunch! Beef can play a delicious role in your morning routine, kickstarting your day with protein and flavor.

Beef… for Breakfast?

We’ve all heard it more than once: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets the stage for your energy levels, metabolism, and mental performance throughout the day. A breakfast rich in protein can provide sustained energy, keeping you satiated and focused until your next meal. This is where beef steps in as a star player.

Beef is a fantastic source of high-quality protein, essential for muscle development, repair, and overall body function. The amino acids found in beef contribute to the body's growth and maintenance, making it an ideal choice to fuel your morning.

Beef-centered breakfast ideas

You know, there’s no written rule anywhere that states that you can’t have lunch or dinner foods for breakfast. If you want to have a hamburger or steak for breakfast, you can do that. For those who are a little more… dare we say, rooted in traditional meal categories, here are a few ways to add beef to your breakfast without upsetting the meal hierarchy.

Steak and eggs

You can’t go wrong with this breakfast classic! The key to a great steak and eggs breakfast is to select the right steak. You’ll want something tender (nobody wants to have to work too hard to eat their first meal of the day), but not too tender. The steak needs to balance out the texture of the runny eggs. Our top choices would be a New York strip, ribeye, or flank steak for this breakfast delight.

You can keep the seasonings basic, or choose your favorite steak rub (we like Tom’s Steak Rub). If you go with a bold flavor on the steak, plan to keep it simple with the eggs. Oven-roasted potatoes or hashbrowns are a great addition to this classic breakfast.

Beef and Vegetable Omelet

The omelet is such a versatile breakfast staple, and so easy to personalize. Add your favorite veggies, a sprinkle of cheese if you’d like, and your beef of choice. Whether you choose seasoned ground beef, shredded roast, or sliced steak, you can’t go wrong. This is a great way to use up any leftover beef you might have!

Breakfast Burritos

Pork isn’t the only protein that works for breakfast burritos! As much as we love a good beef burrito for lunch or dinner, it can be just as delicious when paired with eggs, cheese, and our favorite salsa in the morning. Wrap it up in a warm tortilla or mix it in a bowl for a lower-carb option.

Beef and Spinach Hash

Transform leftovers into a delightful breakfast hash by sautéing lean beef with spinach, diced sweet potatoes, and a medley of savory spices. Top it off with a fried egg for a visually appealing and satisfying morning dish.

Beef Sausage and Vegetable Skillet

Craft a savory beef sausage by blending ground beef with herbs and spices. If you’re not sure where to start, we suggest experimenting with a blend of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, thyme, and sage. Cook it alongside a medley of colorful vegetables in a skillet for a delicious, protein-packed breakfast that's both hearty and wholesome.

Meatloaf Muffins

We caught you off guard with this one, didn’t we? Combine ground beef with savory herbs and spices, then bake them in a muffin pan. You can serve it as a convenient grab-and-go breakfast (they’re perfect for making ahead and freezing) or as a compliment to eggs and hashbrowns. Our favorite part about these muffins? It’s really easy to sneak some vegetables into them for the pickier eaters you may have. We won’t tell if you don’t!

We hope this list encourages you to think outside of the pig or poultry when it comes to your breakfast protein. Whether it’s the classic steak and eggs, a beef and vegetable omelet, or a surprising twist with meatloaf muffins, these beef-centered breakfast ideas will serve as a strong foundation for whatever your day brings.
