Meat, Meat, and More Meat

Meat, Meat, and More Meat

Have you heard of the latest diet out there called the Carnivore Diet? It’s a new diet that is gaining popularity quickly. You basically consume meat and water and that’s it. This diet is not the same as the popular Keto diet. It does vary in some ways so let’s take a look at the Carnivore Diet and see what all the hype is about!

Key Facts of the Carnivore Diet:

  • Not the same as Keto-

    • Carnivore does not allow non-animal oils, avocados, and sweeteners

  • Higher fat protein consumption

  • Eating only from the animal kingdom

  • Eat almost nothing but meat for every meal

  • Practically zero carbohydrates

What exactly do you eat?

  • Beef- steaks (all cuts), roasts, ground beef, and organs if you want (not necessary)

  • Lamb- chops, ribs, and shank

  • Pork- shoulder, belly, butt, roasts, and ribs

  • Chicken- wings, thighs, and drumsticks. Chicken breasts are too lean so eat sparingly or with other fatty meats

  • Fish- salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines, crab, lobster, shrimp, and scallops

What can you drink?

  • Water

  • Bone Broth

These drinks are ok but test it out with time:

  • Coffee

  • Tea

What to avoid on the Carnivore Diet?

  • Everything that is NOT Meat

  • Seasoning and sauces

  • Alcohol

  • Minimize processed meats

How much to eat on the Carnivore Diet?

  • Eat when hungry

  • Eat until full

This can be a gray area for some people so just listen to your body. According to an article on Meat Health, 2-4 lbs of fatty meat per day can be a guide for shopping purposes though.

Can you snack between meals while on the Carnivore Diet?

  • Not recommended

  • If you are not eating enough fatty meat it can cause you to get hungry in between meals so you need to eat more during meals and eat more meals
